Yep, we're doing it again. The response was so good last year that I am happy to be playing at the Chicago Jazz Festival again this year. Stop by the Chicago Jazz Magazine Stage (left of the big band shell) and pick up a free copy of my CD "Boytoy".

Ben Neuman and I had the ridiculously good fortune to be joined by Chicago Jazz Magazine president Mike Jeffers on drums and John Tate on bass on the spot. Nothing planned or rehearsed. After all, that's jazz.........

Jeff will play a jazz duo with Ben Neuman at the Chicago Jazz Festival on Saturday September 5 at 3:20 pm. Ben is a very talented young pianist. Larry Kart said that Ben is "a deep melodist, which is a joy to hear.." and "he swings hard without sounding swingy".

Jeff Mackevich will reunite with the Russell Alan Rowe Trio for a great evening of jazz in Highwood at the old Pops. Now it's Gabe's Backstage Lounge. This group played together at Pops in Chicago for over 3 years.

Jeff was called to play saxes for the December 9 Holiday Concert at Pick Staiger, but Carrie didn't know this. She was very surprised when Jeff appeared on stage with
his horns ready to play.

On his summer vacation Jeff found a fun place to hang out, eat, and play with some very good musicians. It is located in Fennville, Michigan near Holland. Jeff was the featured saxman on Monday nights along with Dick Reynolds on piano (from Chicago) and Dan Jacobs on trumpet (from LA).

New CD Release

Announcing the release of a new jazz-funk-new age CD entitled "Boytoy" by Chicago saxophonist Jeff Mackevich. It is produced and arranged by Jim Trompeter, who is a world class jazz pianist and TV jingle writer. Musicians include Dana Hall on drums, Larry Gray on bass, and trumpeter John Swana.
Jeff composed two of the tunes, and three tunes were composed by New York saxophonist Andy Middleton.
Jeff Mackevich has been the "house saxophonist" at Pop's for Champagne for the last three years.
