Jeff Mackevich: Press

FIRST LOVE BECOMES SECOND CAREER
Somewhere between college and midlife, Wilmette resident Jeff Mackevich put aside performing music to concentrate on building a family and a career as a financial planner.
But music, and his saxophones, were waiting for him. Roughly two decades after putting his saxes aside, Mackevich hasn't simply revived his jazz career but has landed a regular gig at one of Chicago's best-known musical venues, Pops for Champagne.
He is celebrating the release of his second CD "Boytoy" and his 50th birthday in May.

Jazzy Jeff Mackevich has new funk/jazz band. J BEAM BAND will hit the stage at Gabe's in Highwood Friday November 6 at 9pm. The band plays the music of David Sanborn, Yellowjackets, the Brecker Brothers, and more.
"We are playing some of our favorite music from the 1980's fusion jazz.
This should not be confused with smooth jazz on the radio."
